Where the Buffalo Roam Mystery Box San Francisco, CA

Planted by Princess Lea and Sleepy Cat on June 13, 2003. Clues changed January 18, 2006

terrain - flat; dirt paths and paved roads

roundtrip distance - less than a mile

The Western Home Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam, Where the deer and the antelope play; Where never is heard a discouraging word And the sky is not clouded all day

You will need to figure out where the buffalo roam (okay, they're really bison), to begin your search. Follow the fence around the enclosure, starting at the left side. On the back side, past where Fido plays you will see a circle of eucalyptus logs, within sight of the back of a limestone building. It is about 35 steps back from the wooden park bench. Look between the stump and the tree for your furry friends.

Box reported missing by CLynch

7/12/03

I received another report from ChubChub that box was found nearby, with signs that it had been tampered with by animals. Box has been replanted at the "Y" of the log, with a piece of masonry that I found nearby to weigh it down, with the hopes of discouraging any more animal invasions. Please be sure to put the weight back on when you are through.

Based on reports that the box was not able to be found, I went to replace the box today. Turns out the "fallen Y-shaped eucalyptus log" that marked the site has been completely removed! However, there was still a big pile of decaying redwood logs, and I dug around in the spot where I thought the box might be, and after a few minutes I found it! After sprucing it up a bit I replanted in a new spot nearby. Clues have been changed accordingly. Now what am I going to do with the extra stamp??
