GUNNAR SIGURJONSSON PYDDI, PRENTSMIDJAN LEIFTUR H.F. - Reykjavik This was one of the most difficult of the translations to research as the records I was able to find could not always accurately display the oddities of the Icelandic alphabet. Whenever a character was not recognize-able in the ASCII "vocabulary," a box was inserted for the missing letter - this made it quite difficult to look up specific words in the English-Icelandic dictionary! There is one character not found in our alphabet which is widely used in these titles, and I use a "¶" to denote it below - it is really an "o" with a sort of cross sticking out its top. It appears to be a long "O" sound. The image to the left is a printing from 1970 and is a hardback book with a dust jacket and white spine. Some of the later books repeatedly used the same image on the cover - the Tandy artwork from "The Ghost of Blackwood Hall." George's name is Georgía and Hannah goes by Hanna in these translations. Hinn pekkti ameríski rithöfundur, Carolyn Kenne, hefur skrifa¶ allmargar bækur um Nancy Drew og leynilögreglustörf hennar og koma pær beztu út í pessum bókaflokki.

BOKAUTGAFAN SKJALDBORG HF- Reykjavik 1992-2000 Nancy Spennubækur These large picture books were available during the 1990s and mimic the Grosset & Dunlap "flashlight" editions to a certain degree (see logo below). On several of the covers, artowk from the Armada (UK) Format E books is recycled. Skjaldborg is apparently a subdivision of Sigurjónsson as that name appears on the title page. This logo is found on the back and spine of the Skjaldborg books; notice how it is similar to the logo used on the glossy G&D books.
